amnesty.gg is run by Eko Games, the studio making Amnesty. This page covers the website. The game itself is covered by its Steam store page and Steam's own terms.
IF YOU DON'T SIGN IN
Reading this site needs no account. It runs no analytics scripts and sets no cookies until you sign in. Your sound and effects settings are saved in your own browser and never sent to us.
Links to the Steam store carry tags that tell Steam the visit came from amnesty.gg, so Steam can count wishlists from this site. Steam does that counting. We never see it.
Like most web servers, ours keeps a short access log for security. It records IP addresses with the pages they asked for, and it is deleted after 14 days.
IF YOU SIGN IN WITH STEAM
Sign-in is only for the playtest. It uses Steam's OpenID sign-in, so you type your password on steamcommunity.com and we never see it. Steam tells us your SteamID64, the public number for your account. We then read the public name and avatar on your Steam profile.
We store these for everyone who signs in.
- Your SteamID64
- Your Steam name and the link to your profile, refreshed each time you sign in
- A copy of your Steam avatar picture, which your browser then loads from this site
- The time you last signed in
- A session record, kept as a one-way hash of your cookie
For approved testers we also keep these.
- The date you were approved and which admin approved you
- Your playtest key, stored encrypted, once one is assigned to you
- When the key was assigned, and each time it was shown to you
Steam sign-ins and playtest code views are logged with the time and a keyed hash of the IP address. Admin changes are logged too. Only our server has the key, and the log never holds the address itself.
If you link Discord, we check if you own Amnesty on Steam. We do not read your full game library. Your friends list and inventory stay private.
If you link Discord, we keep your Discord ID and username, its link to your SteamID, and the latest Amnesty ownership and role check. We request only your Discord identity, and do not store Discord access tokens. The link stays until you unlink it or ask us to delete it. Unlinking removes the managed Playtester role. If Discord is unavailable, removal retries before the link is deleted. Deleted records leave backups after 14 days.
WHY
We use your Steam details for sign-in and playtest keys. If you link Discord, we use your Discord account ID to manage your Playtester role based on Amnesty ownership. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.
WHERE IT'S KEPT
On one server rented from OVHcloud, in a data centre in Virginia, in the United States. Admins at Eko Games can see the tester list and the log. Nobody else gets a copy.
HOW LONG
A sign-in lasts up to 7 days. Profile details for accounts that haven't signed in for 90 days are deleted. Tester records and keys are kept until the playtest ends. They are deleted, along with the log, within 90 days after that.
COOKIES
Three cookies, all set only after you press the Steam button. One holds a random check value for up to ten minutes while you're on Steam's sign-in page. One keeps you signed in for up to 7 days. The third tells this site's own scripts that you're signed in, so pages don't ask the server when nobody is. None of them are used for anything else.
YOUR RECORD
Signing out ends your session on the device you're using. To see what we hold about your account, or to have all of it deleted, email support@amnesty.gg and include your SteamID64. We reply within 30 days. Deleting your record also takes you off the tester list, and it is gone from our daily backups 14 days later. If you're in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.
CHANGES
If this page changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes.
